Automatic Condensate Drains

Model SCE Condensate Drain

This unit is designed for the safe and efficient drainage of fluids such as condensed moisture, oil, water, etc.  It contains an electronic circuit which provides the timing function and the continual repetition of the control function.  The control cycle of the solenoid valve is repeated indefinitely while the power supply to the unit is maintained.

Model CDE1610 Capacitance-Type Drain

The  CDE1610 discharges only condensate, not air. The valve is servo controlled, thereby permitting the use of a large diameter orifice. Careful design and component selection, together with the use of a suitable sized fiberglass reinforced plastic casing, ensure precise and reliable operation with working pressures up to 232 psig.

Key Benefits

  • Reliable
  • Power "On' LED
  • Manual TEST button for checking drain operation
  • 230/1/60, 115/1/60, or 24/1/60 Power Supply options
  • NPT inlet and outlet connections

THE PROBLEM

An inevitable problem in compressed air systems is the presence of water vapor which, when it condenses, entrains solid particles and lubricating oil from the compressor.  This oily emulsion must be drained in order to prevent it from contaminating the distribution network.  Condensate drains of the float type can get clogged and malfunction, thereby requiring frequent servicing.  Timer-operated drains, on the other hand, are generally much more reliable but they can be expensive to operate because of the large volumes of compressed air they tend to discharge.

THE SOLUTION

The CDE1 61 0 capacitance-type drain discharges only condensate, not air.  The valve is servo-controlled, thereby permitting the use of a large diameter orifice.  Careful design and component selection, together with the use of a suitably sized fiberglass reinforced plastic casing, ensure precise and reliable operation with working pressures up to 232 psig.

DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

The condensate feeds into the CDE1 61 0 through the connector (1) and collects in the bowl (2).  The capacitive sensor (3) continuously monitors the liquid level and sends a signal to the control card as soon as the container is full.  The solenoid valve (4) is then activated and the membrane (5) opens the drain port (6).  When the CDE1 61 0 is empty, the drain port is fully closed and sealed once more before any compressed air can leak out.
